IoT EVOLUTION NEWS ROOM

An Open Play for IoT & M2M Data Integration and Real-Time Analytics

By IoTEvolutionWorld News February 03, 2015

robomq.io platform is built ground up to support open standards and protocol to work with diverse devices and application systems

McLean, VA – February 3, 2015  – robomq.io, Message Queue as a Service for IoT, M2M and application integration, exhibited their product at M2M Evolution at ITEXPO last week. The product was also presented at the Battle of the platform at the same event. The key theme was the open, standards based and interoperable nature of the robomq.io platform.

robomq.io is an open play on M2M and IoT data integration built ground up, with open industry standards and technologies supporting MQTT, STOMP, WebSTOMP, AMQP and REST. With the wide support for the industry standards, and no propitiatory elements, the platform encourages co-existence of diverse devices and systems. This is unlike many of the vertically integrated products and solution where you get locked in to a vendor specific solution. With robomq.io, you have the full flexibility of choosing the sensors, the devices and the gateways from the vendors of your choice and then integrating them with the enterprise and the operations systems. Using robomq.io, you can use existing application system and include the sensors and devices in your business without any major upgrades to the infrastructure, thus avoiding the associated capital expenses.

“The key differentiator we bring to the market, is giving the customer full flexibility when it comes to choosing sensors, devices and applications to connect. M2M and IoT space is fast evolving and the pace of change is enormous. The operator or the end user should have the option to upgrade pieces of the device and the application ecosystems in a flexible and de-coupled way. The last thing you want is a vendor lock-in or a closed system.” , said CEO, Bramh Gupta. “Building a decoupled, open, interoperable, high throughout platform has been the key focus behind the product development of robomq.io. We have taken some of the best practices from our prior experience in telecom real time activation & provisioning and from process automation and control expertise in steel manufacturing, while building this product.”

robomq.io platform provides an industry standard Message Queue based integration hub supporting open standard protocols like MQTT (MQ for Telemetry), AMQP, STOMP, webSTOMP and REST over HTTP, with lightweight clients in multiple languages. It comes with a management user console for administration, and an operational dashboard providing a single pane of glass of the messaging KPIs. The massaging dashboard tracks 23 key attributes and provides historical statistical information. robomq.io comes with a “device to dashboard” real time analytics engine, where user can define dashboards from the device data simply by installing a plugin on the device and building the dashboard by few mouse clicks. The data is received, stored, indexed and made available for defining dashboard with no programming needed. There is also a “data driven alerts” component for monitoring critical events over phone, SMS and email simply by installing a plugin on device and defining the rules for the events of interest.

robomq.io platform is available on the cloud with shared tenancy and also as dedicated private clusters. There is also an enterprise hosting option for hosting on private data centers. The platform has extensive documentation on readthedocs and comes with an SDK and example use cases and code on gitHub.  These resources are sufficient to get started with a very small amount of development and integration effort. The company also offers professional services for a faster implementation.
