Cisco to provide valuable insight at Las Vegas event
Norwalk, CT – July 13, 2015– TMC and Crossfire Media today announced that Cisco has signed on to become a Diamond Sponsor of the Fog Computing, Analytics & Data Conference, August 17-20, 2015, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will focus on the benefits of Fog Computing, including managing switches, routers and sensors, monitoring and aggregating data, storing and sharing information for business intelligence systems and support for mobility of device, people and assets.
“Cisco is pleased to sponsor the Fog Computing, Analytics and Data Conference this summer in Las Vegas. We continue to drive innovation in Fog computing to achieve better performance and improved security and resiliency in the network,” said Chuck Byers, systems architect at Cisco. “We believe analytics is a key aspect of next generation networks, allowing them to process large volumes of data from sensors and actuators, boosting its value in the data, information and wisdom knowledge chain.”
‘Fog’ is a distributed computing infrastructure for the Internet of Things (IoT) which extends computing, networking and storage capability – and thereby data analytics applications – to the ‘edge’ of networks. It enables customers to analyze and manage data at the most optimum level of the network hierarchy, which provides significant performance, efficiency, security and resiliency benefits for critical IoT applications. Cisco predicts that 40 percent of IoT-created data will be processed in the Fog by 2018. Over 25 of Cisco’s network products are enabled with Cisco’s Fog computing or edge data processing platform, IOx. Cisco will showcase these solutions at the conference.
“Edge computing needs edge analytics,” said Carl Ford, CEO, Crossfire Media, executive director of content, Fog Computing, Analytics & Data Conference! “Decisions in context often need to be localized the impact of an outage or a simple anomaly in large systems can be interpreted into a catastrophic failure. In the end enabling the edge with fog computing enhances the value of all systems.”
