IoT Evolution World Week in Review: Samsung, Cisco Capital, Ericsson

By

Hey folks, hope you’ve had a nice week on IoT Evolution World. Here, it’s been a race toward the long Labor Day weekend, full of milestones for the IoT.

The first came courtesy of tech leader Ericsson this week. The company announced a series of innovations designed to help folks work past a number of roadblocks Ericsson can see to mass-market adoption of IoT. The company is addressing these challenges with a new suite of software upgrades and ecosystem advances.

Carl Ford dropped some knowledge on us about a new IoT solution from Yankee Candle Company, and how it indicates a vision from that company and others that IOT can help them improve and evolve into better businesses.

We interviewed Kristine Snow, President of Cisco Capital, the financing and lending arm of Cisco. She gave us a ton of great insights, including how bringing financing into the ecosystem of the IoT is a strategic advantage, with measurable ROI. She also outlines the five main drivers that business leaders need to address in the IoT moving forward and answers the question: How are we going to pay for all this IoT?

Finally, we had some news out of IFA 2015 in Berlin, where Samsung (and dozens of other big tech brands) are showing off all the new toys. This week, the Japanese giant dropped some nap knowledge on the world with its new SleepSense, a new type of personal healthcare device designed to help folks improve their sleepy time.
