Verizon Activates 150K Geotab Fleet Management Devices

By

Fleet management has a lot to gain from IoT and M2M technology deployments. The cost savings and operation efficiencies alone make it a worthwhile investment. Perhaps that fact is what led to today’s announcement from Geotab, a telematics provider.

The company announced on September 28 that between February and June 2015, it sold more than 150,000 GO7 devices, all enabled for Verizon’s cellular network. The G07 is designed for fleet management applications. It detects data from the engine, drive train, instrument cluster and other relevant subsystems to improve productivity and minimize downtime, with a warranty field failure rate of just 0.11 percent.

“Fleet owners value reliability, which is a major reason why the Geotab GO7 is their go-to solution for maximizing productivity and efficiency,” said Neil Cawse, CEO, Geotab. “The GO7’s 99.89 percent reliability, combined with Verizon’s robust, reliable nationwide cellular network, gives them the peace of mind they simply can’t get with most other telematics solutions.”

The G07 has been around since 2014, and has been certified for use on the Verizon network since then. Operator certification is a major milestone because it enabled this solution to be sold into a larger pool of potential customers, such as those that require specific geographic coverage or that prefer a particular network operator.

Geotab’s customers use the G07 solution to improve productivity, reduce fuel consumption, enhance driver safety and ease compliance with regulatory changes. The company's products are represented and sold worldwide through its authorized reseller network on five continents and serve over 12,000 customers. Today, 600 million telematics data-points are collected on the MyGeotab platform every day.
