According to a recent announcement, Globetouch and Verizon Telematics are planning to launch a suite of upgraded network solutions that will be used by General Motors in connection with the continued global expansion of the automotive OEM’s OnStar’s connected vehicle services.
“We are working directly with Verizon Telematics to take the complexity out of carrier and agreement management, enabling Globetouch to focus on building custom solutions that fit the needs of automotive OEMs around the world,” said Riccardo Di Blasio, CEO, Globetouch. “By providing a single point of integration for GM and other automotive OEMs, Globetouch ensures a world-class experience for end customers.”
Globetouch will integrate its open platform GControl with OnStar with the goal of enabling reliable, high-quality connectivity and regulatory compliance for OnStar services. Verizon Telematics will bring scale and network expertise to the solution.
“Verizon Telematics brings the reliability and scalability of its global network, plus decades of experience enabling built-in connectivity for automotive OEM leaders,” said Susan Heystee, SVP, OEM at Verizon Telematics. “Through this partnership with Globetouch, we make it easy for automotive OEM’s customers around the globe to stay connected to what’s important to them.”
The Connected Transportation market has been forecasted to reach $220.76 billion by 2021, with Gartner estimating that by 2020, half of all motor vehicle manufacturers will apply advanced analytics to connected-vehicle data to identify and correct product defects.
