C-Labs Delivers New IoT Cloud Capabilities

By Ken Briodagh April 13, 2015

Industrial automation is a key goal for IoT developers, and at Hannover Messe, the world’s largest industrial trade show, connectivity software provider C-Labs on April 13 announced the availability of new Fog and cloud-based products to simplify the creation of industrial automation IoT solutions.

“Demand for industrial IoT solutions is accelerating, and customer interest has prompted us to bring new capabilities to market more quickly,” said John Traynor, COO, C-Labs.

C-Labs set out to show how IoT and edge of cloud services unlock new business value from industrial equipment. The solution monitors robotic assembly and streams live data to Microsoft Azure IoT services for analytics and machine learning. The system can simultaneously create work orders in SharePoint Online when anomalous conditions are detected and all real-time data and control functions are immediately accessible from remote and mobile devices.

“Industrial automation customers are looking for partner companies delivering IoT solutions that address business demands while minimizing technical complexity,” said Caglayan Arkan, General Manager, Worldwide Manufacturing and Resources Sector, Microsoft. “C-Labs has delivered a compelling example of what is possible with Windows Embedded, Azure IoT services and SharePoint Online.”

The new product, OPC Relay, provides data security, thanks to its cloud connectivity for storage, big data analytics, and machine learning within the Azure environment. It can deliver 100 million data events per day in an industrial environment.
