IoT Evolution World Week in Review: MultiTech, Ingenu, SIGFOX

By

Hello, friends. This is the IoT Evolution World Week in Review, and the present is a gift, so let’s unwrap it, shall we?

In our lead stories this week, we’ve got some great news from us, and from the Maker Movement. First up, we’re happy to introduce you to the next evolution of IoT Evolution. In pursuit of our vision of bringing you, our IoT professional friends and readers, the most important news and commentary in the IoT industry, we have launched the IoT Evolution YouTube channel. There, we will host panels, commentary, interviews and discussions of the import issues facing our industry and how best to bring solutions to market. And meanwhile, I took a look at the history of the Internet and its story of innovative development coming from the bottom. That hasn’t been true, it seems, with the IoT. I have a hunch and some evidence that that is changing.

In a great guest post from Charles Bell, a special columnist for us this week, we saw a great case for supply chain as the key frontier of IoT technology innovation.

And now, the news:

Multi-Tech Systems has completed a smart city implementation within the city of Weinan, located in the Shaanxi Province of China. The company used its IoT technology and paired it with sensors and a LoRaWAN network server from The Things Network to build what is now China’s first pilot city for full IoT connectivity implementation.

Ingenu has expended its Machine Network to Phoenix, AZ. With a coverage area of more than 1,850 square miles, the network provides IoT connectivity to the sixth-largest city in the United States, serving a population of over 3.1 million.

Ayyeka, a technology company developing IoT solutions, has announced that it will partner with SIGFOX to deploy its SIGFOX-certified remote monitoring systems across the U.S. to create energy efficient smart cities.

This week on the IoT Time Podcast, I featutred the first two of our special IoT Evolution Expo episodes, with the videos from our new YouTube channel so you can watch or listen. The first episode was Carl Ford, CEO, Crossfire Media, Marc Josephson, CEO, CORIS ECS and I hashing out how we’ll bring the IoT potential to science-fiction reality. In the second episode, Carl Ford and I dig into the Connected Transportation space and solve it all. Sort of.

There’s plenty more to read, listen to and watch, so visit us on IoT Evolution World for all the IoT news, my friends. Now’s the time to put into your calendar the next IoT Evolution Expo, to be held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Also, please get in touch with us when you have stories. As always, if you have questions, comments, complaints or compliments, please send them to me, editorial director Ken Briodagh at [email protected] or on Twitter @KenBriodagh
