Amazon Drops AWS News All Over the IoTsphere

By

In a rapid fire series of announcements, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has touted bringing Qualcomm into the fold, in addition to certifying several new solutions for using its platform.

Up first, Qualcomm Incorporated announced at AWS re:Invent 2016 that its subsidiary, Qualcomm Technologies, intends to support Amazon Web Services (AWS) Greengrass across a variety of portfolio solutions and will announce in the future specific Qualcomm platform support. AWS Greengrass is a new platform from Amazon that extends AWS IoT and Lambda for local execution on customers’ own gateways and devices, with the same programming model as used in the cloud.

“Qualcomm Technologies is driving new generations of smart connected edge devices such as 'Gateways' to enable edge processing for IoT implementations, especially in industrial, commercial and medical spaces,” said Jeffery Torrance, VP, business development, Qualcomm Technologies. “Qualcomm Technologies is excited to see AWS, a leader in IoT cloud offerings, launch AWS Greengrass, which is expected to further help customers realize the benefits of IoT edge processing and gateways. With AWS we intend to build a robust IoT ecosystem and enhance this IoT architecture with smart, connected edge devices as a central element, addressing key challenges such as privacy, security, latency, reliability, and data cost affordability in the growing diversity of IoT ecosystems.”

Solstice Achieves AWS IoT Competency Status

Solstice, an award-winning emerging technology and innovation firm, has earned Amazon Web Services (AWS) IoT Competency status. This designation recognizes Solstice for delivery of effective solutions and providing deep expertise in the Internet of Things (IoT). To receive the designation, APN Partners must have expertise in the AWS platform and undergo an assessment of the security, performance, and reliability of their solutions.

“We're thrilled to be one of the first APN partners to achieve AWS IoT Competency status,” said Andrew Whiting, VP, Business Development, Solstice. “AWS IoT is foundational to the connected experiences we build for our clients. It enables our teams to focus more on the customer experience rather than the underlying technology.”

Eseye Achieves AWS IoT Competency Status

Eseye, a global cellular internet connectivity provider for IoT devices, has announced that has gotten AWS IoT Competency status. The designation recognizes Eseye for delivering effective solutions and providing deep expertise in IoT.

“We're delighted to be among the very first to have achieved the new AWS IoT Competency status,” said Julian Hardy, CEO, Eseye. “Eseye remains at the forefront of innovation around IoT and is heavily focused on increasing the ease at which projects can be deployed at scale globally.”

Bsquare Achieves AWS IoT Competency Status

Bsquare has announced that it is now certified for Amazon Web Services (AWS) IoT Competency status. This designation recognizes Bsquare for delivery of effective Internet of Things (IoT) solutions that help enterprise organizations improve business outcomes in a variety of industries including smart cities, energy, and transportation.

“Bsquare is pleased to be among the first companies to achieve the new AWS IoT Competency status," said Jerry Chase, President and CEO, Bsquare. “The ability of Bsquare DataV to deliver comprehensive, business-focused IoT solutions optimized for AWS, including AWS IoT Services, further allows our customers to benefit from the agility and security of the AWS Cloud.”

PTC Achieves AWS IoT Competency Status

PTC announced that it has achieved Amazon Web Services (AWS) IoT Competency status. This designation recognizes PTC’s ThingWorx Internet of Things platform, which enables organizations to create IoT applications and generate business value in intelligent factories, smart cities, energy, automotive, transportation, and healthcare.

“PTC is proud to be one of the first APN partners to achieve AWS IoT Competency status,” said Kevin O’Brien, VP, IoT partner sales, PTC. “The combined offering from ThingWorx and AWS delivers world-class ThingWorx IoT rapid application development, machine learning, and augmented reality with AWS IoT cloud services, global scale, and enhanced security. This enables customers to reduce the time, skill, and investment needed to create IoT applications and generate business value.”

The AWS Cloud is enabling scalable, flexible, and cost-effective solutions from startups to global enterprises. To support the seamless integration and deployment of these solutions, AWS established the IoT Partner Competency Program to help customers identify Consulting and Technology APN Partners with deep industry experience and expertise.

ThingWorx, the centerpiece of PTC's Internet of Things technology portfolio, is comprised of a rapid application development platform, connectivity, machine learning capabilities, augmented reality, and integration with leading device clouds, such as AWS. These capabilities combine to deliver a comprehensive IoT technology stack that enables companies to securely connect assets, quickly create applications, and innovate new ways to capture value.
