IoT Solutions Spotlight: oneM2M Addresses Need for Device Standards

By

The IoT Solutions Theatre opens Tuesday, January 23 at the IoT Evolution Expo and it will feature some of the best and most innovative IoT solutions in the field today.

Here, we’d like to highlight one.

WHAT: With the number of connected devices operating across the IoT expected to reach 20 billion by 2020, according to research by Gartner, interoperability and security between devices has never been more crucial.

From the edge to the cloud, every part of the IoT ecosystem must be made secure and interoperable. At this oneM2M-organised panel at IoT Evolution Expo, hear from experts from oneM2M and GlobalPlatform on how the whole industry must come together to achieve this goal.

Subjects which will be covered include open standards and the benefits of using a horizontal approach in IoT deployments. The panel will also address the steps to be taken across the industry in response to security breaches worldwide. As connected devices continue to grow in number, each panelist will offer their unique insight into strategies and solutions being taken to combat threats in IoT security.

The panel will feature senior representative of oneM2M and IoT Strategy Industry Advisor at InterDigital, Ken Figueredo, who will appear alongside Kevin Gillick, Executive Director at GlobalPlatform.

WHO: Ken Figueredo has a background spanning business, management and technology consultancy, with a current focus on the Industrial Internet, intelligent transport systems and the smart city sector. Figueredo is an expert in the field of IoT innovation and the formation of partner ecosystems to deliver interoperable IoT applications.

Kevin Gillick is responsible for coordinating and managing GlobalPlatform’s strategic planning, marketing and business development initiatives across various sectors. Gillick has served as GlobalPlatform’s Executive Director since 2006.

WHEN: The panel, ‘Standards from Edge to Cloud’ will be held at the IoT Solutions Theatre at IoT Evolution Expo on Tuesday, January 23, at 5:30pm (EST).
