Transatel Announces 5G IoT Platform for Industrial, Automotive and IT Markets

By

Transatel has rolled out a new 5G Internet of Things (IoT) solution geared toward the industrial, automotive and IT markets. The company's global 5G IoT services are now available in the U.S., France, Belgium and Japan and will be expanded to the rest of the world over the next few months.

Transatel, a subsidiary of NTT, recently launched its Private 5G Network-as-a-service platform. The new IoT offering builds on that, providing continuous private and public 5G connectivity in support of IoT applications. The service is designed to help distributed workforces and field offices and operations, as SIM and eSIM compatible PCs, tablets and enterprise routers will be able to support data-intensive applications with reliable and fluid 5G connectivity.

The solution will be beneficial for industrial IoT as well as M2M applications and other apps that make use of AI and edge computing. These could include video content analysis, push to talk and autonomous robots and vehicles.

The Private 5G platform is geared toward CIOs and chief digital officers and is designed to drive business outcomes while unlocking new business models with the goal of fostering innovation. Features include single, end-to-end management and service creation along with global visibility.

The purpose-built platform is designed to solve unique enterprise business challenges by offering security, device and edge management as well as support for application development, big data analytics and deep back-office integration. Transatel believes the platform will ultimately help increase ROI and eliminate friction.

Transatel will make its 5G solutions available to consumers as well as enterprises through its Ubigi brand. Ubigi provides eSIM cellular connectivity for connected cars and international travelers. On the enterprise front, the 5G IoT connectivity platform is already being used by Airbus and Stellantis.

"5G is a revolution for the IT industry as it offers significantly superior performance, security and user experience compared to Wi-Fi,” said Jacques Bonifay, CEO of Transatel.”
