Treon, Ready to Triumph: 5.5M Euros Series A Funding with Ventech to Power New US Expansion

By

The “o” in the Treon logo resembles what is more or less universally a power on/off icon, and that’s very fitting when put beside its mission: Treon powers connections between people that, at the same time, connect to all of their (Internet of) things.

(Side note: Today, I learned that the symbols for power, in this context, are “I” and “O” – the “I” symbol represents power on and the “O” represents power off because of binary; “I” is one and “O” is zero.)

Anyway, Treon.

Treon’s team of seasoned experts – meeting the agility of a fast-moving startup – work to provide leading and disruptive physical products, technologies, and services amidst market turbulence. Having previously powered innovation at Nokia and Microsoft, the members of “Team Treon” strive to power technologies that bring products from their idea phases to full-blown mass production phases to meet consumer demands as our global connections proliferate. Across 35 countries, Treon has collected and processed six million sensor messages from devices worldwide, and other scalable IoT solutions (for wireless communications, battery-operated devices, and more) are yet to come.

Earlier this month, Treon made an announcement: The company officially closed a successful 5.5 million-euro Series A round of funding led by global early-stage venture capital firm Ventech. Ventech touts on-the-ground expert investors that are “ready to meet the future,” and clearly Ventech is continuing to meet Treon; first in 2019, which is when the firm made an initial investment in Treon, and now again.

On its quest for international growth as it connects organizations with scalable IoT (tailored to industrial and logistics clients, digital buildings, to name a few), Treon now offers sensors, gateways, an edge platform, software, and other services to advance IoT. And after having established tight partnerships in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), Treon expects to utilize this latest Euro Series A for its expansion to the U.S., Denmark, and France.

"With the rapid growth achieved so far,” said Joni Korppi, Treon’s CEO, “we are highly motivated to reach new heights and expand both our market presence and product portfolio. Together with our partners and with the strong support from Ventech, we are at the forefront of the massive IoT movement – unprecedented efficiency though easily scalable solutions and cutting-edge wireless edge technology is our driving force.”

Tero Mennander, General Partner at Ventech, added the following:

"We’re truly blessed to be chosen by Treon to lead its Series A funding, which is quite a significant step for its internationalization. Our initial investment in Treon back in 2019 was a testament to the potential we saw in Joni and the entire team. Witnessing their remarkable growth since then has left us immensely impressed, further solidifying our strong belief in Treon's journey to becoming a global leader in massive IoT.”
