Right out of the gate, I’ve got a few thoughts to share:

From major industry mic-drop moments to niche news that other outlets may overlook, your time is sincerely appreciated.
Second, if you’re a first-time time reader (or you’ve only navigated your way here once or twice in the past), your time is sincerely valued, as well! The content grind everywhere online in 2024 is a gargantuan sprawl of constant headlines, stimulating engagement, questions and follow-ups, and we’re thankful you’ve opted to give this (or any of our other news pieces) a read or two. Given the times we live in, no special occasion is necessary to remain thankful.
Third – this one’s most pertinent to today’s story – there are a multitude of company names we dedicate coverage to as periodic updates roll out; these include (but certainly aren’t limited to) 1NCE, Five9, Soracom, Morse Micro, 8x8, Quectel and, granted, the inclusion of NVIDIA, Microsoft, IBM and other global giants. Two additional names that warrant inclusion – particularly due to recent news spikes for them both, respectively – are Digi International (News - Alert) and Telit Cinterion.

If you’re unfamiliar, a smidgeon of background on each:
Digi International pioneers wireless solutions spanning a huge variety of IoT applications. Before the Internet of Things became mainstream, Digi built a variety of M2M devices. Later, as the company evolved and continued adapting to likewise evolving network and industry standards, Digi pursued the rigorous optimization of data communications around countless advanced protocols and emerging technologies. (e.g. RF modems to gateways, cellular routers, networking devices, embedded SOM, SBCs, etc.) Fast-forward to 2024, and Digi has even more to offer.
Telit Cinterion (News - Alert) is a renowned enterprise-grade IoT products and software provider. Securing and streamlining hyperconnected solutions made to improve consumers’ lives and redefine IoT business operations is the M.O., and Telit Cinterion has held strong to it. The company’s support for manufacturers and operators maintaining unique IoT ecosystems has grown significantly, and the actionable intelligence provided to users has put in motion smarter systems for this smart and expanding “of Things” future.
So, Digi International in one hand, and Telit Cinterion in the other. These hands, so to speak, ought to be put together, don’t you think?

Digi International and Telit Cinterion have officially expanded upon their ongoing team-up together, after initiating a collective effort last year.
Here’s the breakdown:
This recent build-on announcement was made because Telit Cinterion’s 5G RedCap M.2 card, the FN920C04, is officially being integrated into Digi International’s IX20 industrial router and its EX15 enterprise router. Both parties have deemed this a “historic integration,” and it reflects a shared commitment to evolving IoT and 5G technologies that help future-proof customer networks.
5G RedCap (i.e. “reduced capacity”) is a foundational enabler of IoT and 5G solutions; particularly when channeled toward use cases with concerns regarding rugged areas, cost-lowering needs, low-battery devices, lower bandwidth requirements, etc. It also addresses unique demands of mid-speed IoT applications in the era of 5G Standalone (5G SA) networks; with a focus on improved smooth migrations and deployments, quality of service, better uplink data rates and power efficiencies, lower latencies and heightened security, 5G Redcap ensures extended device lifecycle and longevity in this segment of the overall IoT market.
So when you consider how Digi’s IX20, for example, has a field-replaceable Digi CORE Plug-In Modem that allows customers to easily deploy and move to 5G Redcap and you consider how Telit Cinterion’s FE910C04 LGA module and FN920C04 M.2 card provide smooth transitions from 4G LTE (News - Alert) to Redcap as well, the obvious becomes, well, even more so:
This extra leg of the Digi-Telit team-up makes a whole world of sense.
Flexibility. Seamlessness. Future-proofed investments. These are all words that spring upward when discussing this move.

Chances are high that additional coverage to the goings-on of both Digi International and Telit Cinterion will crop up throughout 2024. In the meantime, we’ll continue reporting on “everything IoT” we can.
