Financing AgTech and IoT in the Face of Climate Change: Verdi Expeditions Receives Investment from NEC X

By

Climate crises are one of the top risks for agriculture as the very nature of our planet continues to change. That’s why many professionals require modern automation tools for climate-proofing their operations (as close as they can, at the very least). When it comes to monitoring tree health and achieving optimal crop yield in vineyards and orchards (or even for saving time and breeding drought-resistant variations to cultivate more sustainably), growers relying on IoT-powered solutions to kick their agricultural resilience levels up a notch, so to speak, is becoming a more frequent circumstance in today’s world.

This is why Verdi Expeditions Inc. – a farmhand automation and personalized plant healthcare provider that supplies much of the aforementioned to farming teams in need – has received a new investment from NEC X, a Silicon Valley venture studio that invests in high-potential (and adaptive) technologies, furthering their development from inception to launch.

In tandem with this strategic investment, NEC X is set to collaborate with Verdi via augmentations to NEC’s CropScope initiative. (This involves optimizing digital agriculture capabilities and streamlining greater value in this field; read more about that here.)

Per Shintaro Matsumoto, NEC X’s President and CEO:

“With increasingly severe weather and resource scarcity globally, it’s clear that we need new, innovative agricultural infrastructure that is both efficient and sustainable. NEC X is committed to addressing this urgent issue through our strategic investment in Verdi, whose innovative solutions are set to transform farming practices. We’re confident Verdi will make a lasting impact, especially as part of our CropScope initiative.”

And per Arthur Chen, Verdi’s co-founder and CEO:

“Our strategic partnership, collaboration and integration with NEC X is invaluable as we enhance our AI capabilities and scale our platform to reach new markets. With NEC’s international reach and deep sector expertise, we are uniquely positioned to be a global leader. NEC X’s support is more than an investment – truly, it’s a partnership focused on startup success.”

Learn more about developments like these at IoT Evolution Expo 2025, which will be taking place from February 11-13, 2025 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Part of the #TECHSUPERSHOW experience, this event combines educational conference programming with a robust exhibit hall, networking events, and other activities, bringing together buyers and providers of business technology products and services.
