Question: What’s Telenor IoT all about?
Answer: Telenor IoT is a renowned IoT connectivity provider with 20+ years experience in providing relied-upon IoT solutions on a global scale. Its customers range from small startups to well-established enterprises with some of the most advanced international IoT deployments out there. Telenor IoT and its portfolio of cloud and connectivity-focused services are backed by expert support in the Nordics, the Americas, Africa and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
Last year (dating back to July 2023; it really feels like several years ago, if you ask me), I wrote an article about Telenor IoT’s official team-up with Verizon Business. At the time, Mats Lundquist (CEO of Telenor Connexion and Head of Telenor IoT) stated how “This partnership really is a catalyst for the next generation of consumer services,” given how the number of IoT devices is still expanding rapidly.
Debika Bhattacharya, Chief Product Officer at Verizon Business, had also commented on how “Customers need flexible, reliable connectivity that moves across borders. With partners like Telenor, Verizon will be able to provide that — a globe-spanning footprint with seamless eSIM IoT connectivity.”
Well, it’s December 2024. Where’s the Telenor IoT + Verizon Business collab at now?
Officially announced this morning, Telenor IoT customers with connected devices in the U.S. can get uninterrupted access to Verizon Business’ cellular IoT network, extending Telenor’s connectivity services potential and enabling more flexible access to crucial, demanding markets.
According to today’s news brief, this partnership hooks customers up with “full control over their device management through a single pane of glass; with the press of a button, their device(s) can switch to a Verizon Business eSIM and can seamlessly access Verizon’s U.S. network infrastructure.”
It’s nice to be able to report on timelines like these; it shows developments are really paying off in the long haul.
“This is an important step in our strategic investment in expanding network availability and quality of service for our international customers,” Lundquist explained. “Through our partnership with Verizon Business, we offer the opportunity to deploy devices on the best network in the U.S. while maintaining a single global SKU and seamless management of connected devices. We have a clear commitment to constantly working on improving IoT services for our customers, and we have a strong roadmap to continue expanding both local network access and regional points of presence networks.”
Echoing Lundquist, Verizon Business’ TJ Fox (SVP of Industrial IoT and Automotive) added how “Verizon Business is proud of its relationship with Telenor for reciprocal IoT connectivity in Verizon's expansive U.S. footprint and Telenor's EMEA and APAC coverage areas. Global reach is increasingly important for our customers who do business across international borders, and partnerships like this one help our customers maintain seamless connectivity to their expanding fleets all over the world.”
