Navigating the 'Security Seas' of IoT: Learn How at IoT Evolution Expo 2025

By

Here’s a quick topic-teaser for our IoT readers; specifically, about navigating government regulation and compliance in the Internet of Things sector:

Prior to President Donald J. Trump retaking office, President Joe Biden and his then-outgoing administration brought to the fore a cybersecurity and labeling-focused program for connected consumer devices produced by IoT developers. Fast-forward to present day, and it has become clear that manufacturers will need to outline more transparent (and publicly available) education for their employees and customers about the security and functionality of IoT products on the market. (Read here for more of our coverage about this U.S. Cyber Trust Mark/the IoT Cybersecurity Improvement Act and the secure-by-design principles therein.)

This is far from the only action being taken, of course. With increasing scrutiny from regulatory bodies worldwide, organizations are being faced with continually evolving standards that mandate greater adherence to regulatory oversight in IoT. Teams must not only navigate regulations (unfortunately, oft-conflicting ones, at that) across jurisdictions, but also adapt to the rapid pace of technological advancement that often outstrips existing legal frameworks.

There’s plenty to talk about here; robust data management practices, proactive compliance-centric strategies, the myriad responsibilities thrust onto vendors, manufacturers, operators and end-users, etc. Continuous monitoring of IoT news (and staying abreast of the latest regulatory changes, in tow) are imperative for maintaining compliance in the new year.

To connect with professionals about such topics (and subsequently learn more about the nitty-gritty specifics), we encourage readers to consider registering for IoT Evolution Expo 2025. This, part of the larger #TECHSUPERSHOW experience, will be taking place from February 11-13 at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

At the expo on Tuesday, February 11 from 11:00-11:45 AM, an IoT session titled “Navigating Government Regulation and Compliance” (and its panelists) will dive even deeper. Register here to secure your spot.
