Florida: Center of the IoT Evolution Revolution

By

The IoT Evolution Expo, coming up February 7 to 10 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, has evolved to become the leading educational and networking forum for the enterprise looking to understand how to develop and implement IoT solutions that drive measurable results and business transformation.

It’s found a perfect home in Florida, a market where, according to the stateofflorida.com site, the leading markets are ideally suited to leveraging Internet of Things technology like what’s being discussed at the IoT Evolution Expo and lead the Next Industrial Revolution.

Of course, everyone thinks about tourism when thinking about industry in Florida. Disney was one of the first companies to use enterprise IoT connectivity in a consumer-facing way, and many Florida theme parks use smart bracelets to track visitors and allow them the freedom of leaving their wallets behind while still being able to come off a water ride and pay for something immediately. Most recently, Carnival Cruise Corporation has launched its Ocean Medallion program, which gives passengers a connected, customized experience on select ships. Hotels have been able to shift from purchasing and stocking paper in rest rooms to outsourcing to companies using sensors to determine when new paper is needed. With about 100 million visitors to the state per year, every tourism-based business in Florida that wants to improve efficiency and profits would be well-advised to register now.

About 40 percent of all U.S. exports to Latin and South America pass through Florida, and the developing South American market is critical to the IoT industry, which we will be exploring in sessions like the IoT Solutions in LatAm discussion to be lead by Regis Souza of Telit.

The other leading industries in the state, Aerospace, and Agriculture, have demonstrated dozens of use cases for IoT over the last few months, and these issues are all on the table for the Expo. NASA is working with partners to leverage IoT in space, while smart farming has saved farmers millions on water and fertilizer and works to make the environment a much better place.

In short, there is a lot to learn. And much of this market will be spent by Florida companies looking for a significant ROI through embracing digital transformation. This is why we’ve gone all out with our education offering. The event will feature a robust exhibit floor, powerful keynotes, case studies, live demos, unique sessions, special events, networking opportunities and much more.
