In a span of weeks, Soracom received top-tier recognition from two of the most closely watched analyst firms in the IoT connectivity market. The cloud-native IoT platform was named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Managed IoT Connectivity Services, Worldwide — evaluated jointly with parent company KDDI — and simultaneously recognized as a Leader and Ace Performer in the QKS Group SPARK Matrix for IoT Connectivity Management Platforms.
Taken together, the dual recognition signals that Soracom's platform approach — built on cloud-native infrastructure, programmable connectivity, and an expanding AI capability layer — is resonating with both enterprise buyers and the analysts who evaluate them.
The Gartner evaluation positioned Soracom-KDDI based on Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute. KDDI Group has 25 years of mission-critical IoT connectivity experience, including connected vehicle deployments for leading automakers and large-scale industrial operations now spanning eighty-six countries. Soracom contributes the platform layer: a software-defined core that terminates device connections directly within cloud infrastructure, supports multi-IMSI orchestration, and aligns with the SGP.32 eSIM standard for dynamic remote profile management.
"Soracom built a cloud-native IoT platform to make connectivity accessible to innovators, and we have continued to expand the platform as customers have built more ambitious connected products," said Ken Tamagawa, CEO and Co-Founder of Soracom. "Today the platform spans cellular and satellite connectivity, cloud integration, and AI services that customers use to bring connected products from prototype to production."
The QKS Group recognition came via the SPARK Matrix for IoT Connectivity Management Platforms, where Soracom was evaluated across both Technology Excellence and Customer Impact parameters. Ace Performer status — awarded separately from Leader positioning — recognizes vendors demonstrating strong revenue growth potential, partnership momentum, and customer acquisition over the prior year.
QKS has since reinforced that assessment by naming Soracom the Most Valuable Pioneer in its inaugural AI Maturity Matrix for IoT Connectivity Management Platforms (2026). The firm cited Soracom's native integration of generative AI across its connectivity platform, including Soracom Flux, Query, MCP Server, and related developer tools, as evidence of a mature AI strategy that enables enterprises to build and deploy AI-enabled IoT applications without relying on fragmented third-party infrastructure.
Ignatius Daniel T, Principal Analyst at QKS Group, highlighted Soracom's API-first design and its alignment with how modern IoT deployments are built and scaled. He noted that Soracom's platform gives enterprises flexibility, faster deployment cycles, and reduced operational complexity across distributed device environments — and that capabilities including SGP.32-aligned eSIM orchestration, satellite connectivity, and cloud-integrated services reinforce their standing as both an innovation-led and execution-focused player.
Kenta Yasukawa, CTO and Co-Founder of Soracom, pointed to the platform's AI capabilities as a key differentiator.
"Identification as a Leader and Ace Performer reflects the inherent strengths of the Soracom platform: cloud integration and AI services for IoT, including Soracom Flux for AI-driven workflow automation and Soracom Query for natural-language IoT analytics, integrated directly into a cloud-native connectivity platform," Yasukawa said.
For enterprise buyers evaluating IoT connectivity platforms, the convergence of Gartner and QKS recognition provides a consistent data point. Soracom's positioning — as a cloud-native, programmable, AI-capable platform with global reach through the KDDI partnership — reflects a deliberate expansion of platform scope that is now being validated externally. As IoT programs grow in complexity and scale, the ability to manage connectivity, data, and intelligence from a single platform is becoming less a differentiator and more a baseline expectation.
Note: This is one of three articles I decided were needed to highlight the outreach that Soracom is making to enterprises. Many times, MVNOs position themselves for specific vertical markets, but Soracom is positioned as a significant strategic partner in the deployment of large-scale deployments needing IT requirements.
