Take On IoT's Challenges with the Digi X-ON Edge-to-Cloud Platform, Courtesy of Digi International

By

Howdy and TGIF, y’all.

When last we covered IoT solutions provider Digi International back in October 2024, readers over on our Industrial IoT News hub learned about:

  • Digi 360, a subscription-based offering that prioritizes simple usability and supports deployment visibility and optimized ROIs for Digi cellular routers.
  • Digi’s participation in the August-announced T-Mobile Partner Plus channel subsidy program.

Updates like these are par for the course for a company like Digi International, which has been pioneering wireless innovation since 1985.

And speaking of updates, here’s another:

Earlier this week, Digi International announced the launch of Digi X-ON, its latest edge-to-cloud IoT platform breakthrough.

Designed to further simplify integrating, deploying and scaling industrial IoT systems, Digi X-ON integrates hardware, software, and cloud connectivity into, as the company describes, “a single, secure, and reliable platform that delivers measurable business value — supporting many different applications such as connected cities, smart utilities, industrial IoT and smart agriculture.”

“With customers deploying Digi X-ON in a range of use cases,” per Mike Rohrmoser, VP of Product Management, OEM Solutions at Digi International, “we are already seeing excellent results; greater visibility into the health of large livestock herds, automation in buildings, and digital transformation in supply chain use cases, as well as improved overall ROI.”

Take, for example, Digi International customer Fever Tags. This Texas-based company empowers ranchers, feedlots and dairies to take a truly proactive approach when it comes to cattle health via 24/7 monitoring. This allows for earlier illness detection and timelier medical interventions in order to reduce extensive antibiotic treatments and disease spread, thereby contributing to improved animal welfare and more sustainable (and responsible, frankly) livestock management. Plus, it’s easy with the mobile app and wireless ear tag sensors, backed by Digi LoRaWAN.

“With Digi X-ON,” explained John Greer, CEO of FeverTags, “we can identify and treat sick cattle up to 72 hours before they show signs of illness that you can detect visibly. Anytime you can keep an animal healthy (and eating and drinking), you deliver an immediate financial impact and an ROI to the cattle owners.”

This is but one example where Digi X-ON accelerates time to value via a seamless, scalable IoT solution.

Digi X-ON development kits are reportedly available worldwide. These kits provide businesses with everything they need to start building their IoT solutions today. Additional details here.
