Novatel and AT&T Partner Up to Make Connected Homes More Secure

By Ken Briodagh June 24, 2015

Novatel Wireless recently announced that AT&T has issued network approval of Novatel’s MiFi Secure SA 1100, which will be the first offering in a coming platform designed specifically for the control and automation market.

The SA 1100 series will present customers with opportunities to create differentiated services that drive business growth, and the company has opened the floodgates with the home security solutions market, a segment within the control and automation market.

This solution is a dual path communicator board, designed to be simple to install for independent security dealers in home security panels. The solution empowers home security alarm providers to expedite the current 3G cellular upgrade requirement for pre-installed security devices on the AT&T network. It also makes it easier to install home automation services by making it simpler to send smart home appliance communications through one touch point, via Wi-Fi and Z-Wave protocols.

“MiFi Secure SA 1100 is a whole new offering for the home security market and we're excited to receive certification for this one and more in the future with AT&T,” said Alex Mashinsky, CEO Novatel Wireless. “We're working to simplify the delivery of meaningful solutions into the market via collaboration and existing partnerships with respected leaders in the security industry, including Monitronics, Icontrol and Tri-ed, an Anixter company.”

There’s no shortage of need for secure connected home solutions, it’s true. This certification by AT&T brings legitimacy to Novatel’s offering, however, and makes it stand out. Look for more such solution at the IoT Evolution Expo, August 17 to 20 in Las Vegas.
