Secure Home, Sweet Home: A Quick Look at Kwikset's New Smart Lock Offerings

By Alex Passett February 07, 2025

TGIF, IoT readers!

As I’m sure folks are anxious to kick back this weekend, let’s cut right to the chase:

Today, we’re briefly talking about Kwikset, a provider of smart home security products. I’ll also share details about the much-anticipated (and fast-approaching) IoT Evolution Expo 2025.

For nearly 80 years, Kwikset has been securing real peace of mind for homeowners. The Kwikset team is committed to meeting homeowners’ unique needs via hardware like smart deadbolts, knobs, handlesets and levers, electronic upgrades like keyless entry combination locks, connected access controls, parts and accessories like service parts, keys, latches, padlocks, and much more. (And in a variety of charming styles and finishes, to boot.)

“Our interior and exterior door products provide customers with the high-quality, durable solutions they deserve,” the company wrote, “all while guaranteeing the highest level of security.”

And this week, the company made an announcement we’d like to highlight:

Kwikset announced two new Z-Wave smart locks — the HomeConnect 918 and HomeConnect 620.

  • The HomeConnect 918 is the hero of this new lineup, offering robust features (e.g. support for up to 250 unique user codes, enhanced S2 security encryption for advanced protection against unauthorized access, SmartStart provisioning for simplified setup, and Z-Wave Long Range technology for greater flexibility in smart home installations). The 918’s long-range wireless communication, faster response times, and improved battery efficiency make it an ideal choice for both residential and commercial properties.

  • The HomeConnect 620, already a go-to choice for smart home enthusiasts, now comes equipped with Z-Wave Long Range technology. It continues to support up to 250 unique user codes, S2 security encryption, and SmartStart provisioning, ensuring seamless integration with leading Z-Wave smart home systems, such as Ring Alarm.

“These new products are a direct reflection of Kwikset’s dedication to keeping our smart locks on the cutting edge of technology,” explained Josh Hodgson, Product Marketing Manager at Kwikset. “By incorporating Z-Wave Long Range and enhancing lock performance, we’re ensuring that homeowners and professionals can rely on our products to provide seamless connectivity, robust security, and unmatched convenience.”

These smart locks are now available through Kwikset’s professional channel distributors and dealers.

Learn more about smart ecosystem products like these at IoT Evolution Expo 2025, which will be taking place from February 11-13 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Part of the #TECHSUPERSHOW experience, this event combines educational conference programming with a robust exhibit hall, networking events and other activities, bringing together buyers and providers of business technology products and services that are critical to IoT.
