Stanley Black & Decker Leverages IoT Tech to Enhance Customer Systems

By

Stanley Black & Decker is making the IoT a priority for itself and its customers by deploying IoT systems in its facilities and, now partnering with the George Tech IoT Center and Auburn University RFID Lab to develop new solutions.

In the newest development for the IoT-forward company, it has invested in the systems of View Technologies and installed them in its own facilities. View is a joint venture between Stanley Black & Decker and RF Controls that enables retailers, manufacturers and logistics firms to track billions of items incorporating RAIN RFID (Passive UHF) tags, providing them access to real-time data to enhance operational efficiencies.

“The truth is: Stanley Black & Decker has a large component of the IoT business,” said Ted Bostic, CTO, Stanley Engineered Fastening, Stanley Black & Decker. “IoT will mean different things to different parts of the industry. In industrial, it has more to do with enterprise efficiency and embedded intelligence.”

View Technologies’ new inView Solution Partner Program is designed to create an ecosystem of value-added reseller partners to accelerate the process of building RFID M2M solutions for companies in retail, manufacturing and logistics spaces.

“The convergence of the Internet of Things and RFID is fueling renewed interest among retailers, manufacturers, logistics firms as well as other vertical markets - the RFID industry is expected to continue its rapid growth, reaching $13.2 billion by 2020,” said Steve Hudson, President, View Technologies. “This program will enable our partners to realize the full potential of their applications within these markets by incorporating unique capabilities such as continuous item-level visibility and real-time location services.”

inView provides users with valuable data and business event notifications and includes sales and technical training and certification in addition to marketing and expert resources for all View products and services.

“Our inView Solution Partner Program is designed around an agile software framework that enables partners to disrupt the market's unmet needs with velocity in their core segments, regardless of their experience with RTLS systems,” Hudson said. “Additionally, View has the backing of the iconic Stanley Black & Decker brand, known for its reliability and dedication to quality, providing access to its manufacturing scale, operational excellence and global reputation.” View is still looking for more partners.

Now that seems like a tool in good hands.
