IoT Evolution Expo 2023 Preview: February 14-17 in Fort Lauderdale, FL

By

The eminent evolution of the Internet of Things – a seemingly inestimable ecosystem of interconnected, sensor-tagged devices that exchange data in order to make use of operative insights – has been, to put this mildly, the wildest of rides. It began around 1982 with a simple computer science experiment conducted by a few Carnegie Mellon University graduate students; they wanted to test if code could monitor if cold Coca Cola bottles were available in certain vending machines.

Now, according to reports from Techjury and Statista, the magic number of IoT-connected devices and actuators globally is currently over 21.5 billion globally. To boot, there are more than 400 unique and currently active IoT platforms, and the estimated end-user spending by 2025 may reach $1.6 trillion.

IoT, in short, is honest-to-goodness phenomena.

That said, it wasn’t terribly long ago that I was first introduced to IoT. Then, next thing I know, I was absorbing IoT-related info like a feral sponge, delving into the chasmic spread of IoT implementations. From Walmart delivery drones and 5G narrowband IoT for South African farmers via non-terrestrial networks, to industrial LiDAR applications, smart home innovations (including lawn care robots), city-scale smart infrastructure, the exponential maturation of artificial intelligence, hardware-agnostic IoT platforms, fleet and logistics management, and how major-league IoT disruptors are vying for the most inspiring footprints in technology today.

So, that’s my two cents on the history of IoT’s evolution and a smattering of its use cases.

Now, let’s bind that to a preview of the big event in IoT that begins in less than 24 hours:

IoT Evolution Expo 2023!

IoT Evolution Expo 2023, taking place at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from February 14-16, is part of ITEXPO and will serve as a haven for organizations wanting to learn about scaling IoT implementations and focusing on impactful technologies that will drive business growth.

Those attending will join a global community of enterprise implementors, equipment suppliers, carriers and platform providers in discourse about solutions driving the most change in IoT’s markets.

Key topics for IoT Evolution Expo 2023 include Smart City Solutions (e.g. smart lighting, sustainable energy, and water conservation), Industrial IoT (a.k.a. IIoT) applications, the role of machine learning in AI, private networking opportunities propelling automation, IoT data analytics, elements of connectivity (e.g. hybrid networks, 5G/6G, LoRaWAN, etc.), networking strategies for cloud-based infrastructures, edge computing, and a plethora of other IoT-centric trends, funding expectations, and so much more.

There will be keynotes, conference sessions, expert panels, sponsor booths, product demos, and other events taking place over the three-day period. And, just as IoT is all about connections, so too is the expo itself. With dozens of award-winning sponsors and analyst partners, connecting with great minds is what it’s all about.
