After checking our records, it seems like it’s been quite a hot second since we covered Kajeet; September of last year, to be precise. We talked about this IoT services provider’s smartSIM solution that helps customers, quote, “navigate the dynamic landscape of wireless connectivity,” per Kajeet Chief Technology Officer Greg Jones. (Read the full story here.)
Let’s revisit the company today real quick, shall we?
In 2003, Kajeet’s founders were inspired to “bridge the digital divide” — particularly for generations less familiar with high-speed connectivity and what is now the Internet of Things, as we know it. Around that time, Kajeet officially launched; in the nearly 20 years since, its teams have provided start-to-finish services that lay the foundation for intelligent, flexible and secure connectivity. (i.e. via wireless networks, software, and data-driven insights that improve everyday life for local communities and global industries alike)
So, there’s that background.
Now, let’s briefly talk about Mission Telecom.
Mission Telecom is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit telecom company that a.) provides affordable broadband, and b.) actively invests in what it describes as “a movement of systemic change.” With an M.O. as equally focused on high-quality broadband products and services as it is focused on supporting sustainable changes that create social and racial equity in the U.S., Mission Telecom is proudly a trusted partner in people-powered movements and telecom access being put in the hands of all communities.
“We operate as a unique ally,” one Mission Telecom representative writes, “where reliable technology and targeted grants collaboratively uplift communities.”
Thus (per this article’s title), let’s put these two companies together:
Yesterday, Kajeet announced its strategic partnership with Mission Telecom.
By combining Kajeet's robust Sentinel IoT connectivity, management and analytics platform — for secure, flexible/scalable, multi-carrier connectivity with a built-in firewall, real-time alerts, web filtering and more — with Mission Telecom’s unique (and unlimited) broadband access services, they can together enhance connectivity for additional nonprofits, libraries and other communities, and educational institutions.
The long-story-short version, readers?
Kajeet and Mission Telecom are poised to deliver much-needed internet access to folks in need. (With additional benefits, of course; mobile device management, policy and wireless data usage control, network security, etc.)
"Mission Telecom should be commended for how they leverage and monetize their Educational Broadband Service (EBS) spectrum holdings and their commitment to delivering service to those who need it the most," affirmed Zack Kowalski, Kajeet’s Chief Revenue Officer. “Their transparency and dedication aligns perfectly with our mission to connect the unconnected, and we are excited to join forces with them to make a significant impact in closing the digital divide.”
Rhea Yaw Ching, Executive Director of Mission Telecom, agrees with Kowalski.
“Partnering with Kajeet allows us to expand our reach and enhance the quality of service we provide to our communities. Kajeet's expertise in managed IoT connectivity and their commitment to social impact make them an ideal partner for us. Together, we can accelerate our efforts to ensure that no one is left behind in the digital age.”
