Check it out.
On Friday, we checked in with Morse Micro.
We’ve featured this IoT connectivity and interoperability solutions provider in several stories here on IoT Evolution World (and on our Smart City Sentinel news site) — this has included the company’s many partnership developments (e.g. with Synergy Associates, Silex Technology, Mouser Electronics, Milesight IoT and Quectel), its strategic branch opening in Taiwan (i.e. to strengthen ties with TSMC), and two incredible Wi-Fi HaLow demonstrations.
For more context on the latter, the first then-record-setting demo took place back in February in San Francisco’s Ocean Beach neighborhood; this showcased the ability of sub-GHz Wi-Fi HaLow signals to reach long distances in challenging real-world conditions (3 kilometers). Following that, in September the company broke its own record (16 kilometers) in Joshua Tree National Park. Click on any of the links above to read more about each story.
And on Friday (as mentioned), our story pertained to Morse Micro announcing the launch of multiple new open-source GitHub repositories, as well as a Community Forum.
So while only a weekend has passed, we’ve still got another Morse Micro update to share. It officially made headlines this morning.
Here’s the scoop:
Morse Micro announced that it has now won the Best Wi-Fi for Innovation Award at the 2024 Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) Industry Awards.
For additional context, the WBA Industry Awards honor significant achievements across the Wi-Fi innovation ecosystem. Earning one of these awards, quote, “demonstrates prestigious industry excellence,” according to the organization.
Morse Micro’s situation here is no exception. This award understandably acknowledges Morse Micro’s breakthroughs in Wi-Fi HaLow SoCs, and the company is expected to continue working on redefining long-range, low-power connectivity to address many needs for reliable IoT applications.
Per the WBA Industry Awards judges:
“Morse Micro's pioneering work in delivering robust, low-power IoT connectivity places them at the forefront of the industry. The company is truly driving innovation that will play a crucial role in the future of IoT [and] redefining Wi-Fi for the next generation.”
And per Michael De Nil, CEO and co-founder of Morse Micro:
“We are honored to receive this prestigious award from the WBA. This recognition highlights our commitment to advancing IoT connectivity by delivering innovative, efficient, and scalable Wi-Fi HaLow solutions. As IoT continues to evolve, our technology will empower businesses and communities globally by ensuring reliable Wi-Fi connectivity.”
Learn more about connectivity-focused innovation at the upcoming IoT Evolution Expo 2025, which will be taking place from February 11-13, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Part of the #TECHSUPERSHOW experience, this event combines educational conference programming with a jam-packed exhibit hall, networking events and other activities, bringing together buyers and providers of business technology products and services that are huge for IoT.
