ICYMI: Your 'IoT TGIF' News Review as April Comes to a Close

By

TGIF, IoT readers!

(Or, given I was just playing with the sound and spelling of this in my head, “IoT–GIF” everyone!)

Okay, so maybe that won’t quite stick, given it sounds great but its spelling reads like you’re searching for a GIF about something related to IoT.

As this digression has made abundantly evident, it’s Friday. The weekend’s here. And readers, we’ve got some juicy IoT scoops to recap before we’re off ‘til Monday:

  • First and foremost, let’s talk about Viasat. This high-speed communications and IoT connectivity solutions provider is getting very busy as it preps for its upcoming Viasat ELEVATE global partner event, taking place from June 18-19 at the official Viasat corporate headquarters in Carlsbad, California. At this event, business leaders looking to leverage the best from Viasat and its stellar global presence will be able to do precisely that. And what’s more is that ELEVATE (in addition to this global partner event) is also the name of Viasat’s partner growth program that supports businesses with game-changing satellite connectivity integrations for their IoT applications. At Viasat’s event, on top of the speakers to be featured and detailed presentations and demos to experience, attendees will also gain the following: Enterprise and Land Mobile (ELM) market insights, Viasat’s plans in relation to direct-to-device technology, information relating to the ELM product portfolio update, ELEVATE program overview covering how the program can support businesses and help with long-term growth ambitions and panel discussions and networking blocks for partners So whether you find yourself in business development, IT or OT, engineering, or in product or project management or purchasing – you name it, Viasat is here to support it – anyone interested should learn more and register by clicking here.
  • Next, KORE Wireless and Medical Guardian (the former an IoT solutions pioneer, and the latter a renowned provider of personal emergency response systems, or PERS) announced their strategic collab on what they’ve jointly called “the first-ever medical alert device utilizing eSIM technology,” and it’s designed to overcome woeful cell signal challenges (and address overall healthcare access disparities) by enabling easier electronic switching of cell carriers, thus enabling optimal 24/7 connectivity for patients in need. (Particularly for aging adults who require more reliable medical device performance.)
  • We’ve got a one-two combo story here regarding Thales, a provider of solutions, services and products that help its customers – organizations and governments alike – critical missions in “Big Data,” AI, connectivity, cybersecurity and even quantum technology. Thales has officially partnered with end-to-end IoT team at Telit Cinterion (read our Telit-centric stories here; its high-precision GNSS module, its 5G LGA modules, etc.) to integrate Thales’ TIC (Thales Instant Connect) services into Telit’s IoT modules for remote eSIM activations. This is exceptionally useful for industrial devices (e.g. smart meters, security systems, healthcare equipment and so on), and plenty of other use cases, to boot. Moreover, the other part of this combo coverage is Thales having been selected by Eseye, with its intelligent integrations and connectivity engineering expertise. Selected for what? Well, Eseye chose Thales to leverage its respective connectivity management resources to, quote, “enhance IoT devices with an automatic, seamless, optimal local network connection when first powered up.” And according to Adam Hayes, COO at Eseye, “We’re delighted to have partnered with Thales to take forward this leading-edge solution. Combining SGP.32 and SGP.41 support will ensure future IoT device deployments can deliver optimum efficiency and value to our customers.”
