CiscoLive and Well in 2025

By

There is too much to tell in any one sitting, but I am going to summarize from my perspective of what is important. In case you have ideas of your own, I recommend paying attention to CiscoLive remotely.

The first thing that caught my eye was the Unified Platform, which combines Meraki with Catalyst and also supports wireless as well as cloud, on-premises, and hybrid architectures. Included in this is AI Canvas, which is the first UI tool designed for NetOps, SecOps, and DevOps. The design transforms the network-centric architecture into an agentic AI architecture, where the “brains” of AI has the full view of the devices and the network, thus making cyberthreats more visible to ThousandEyes across domains.

The reason SecOps is mentioned is the security embedded into the network – building the secure infrastructure for the AI era. In other words, as part of the agentic AI approach, the traffic is more visible, which allows new controls to block exploits and defend switches and routers and stop AI-driven lateral movement. This comes at a time when Cisco has developed a Hybrid Mesh Firewall with Universal ZTNA to deliver a robust zero-trust security framework, seamlessly integrated into the network.

The new AI infrastructure innovations aim to simplify, secure, and future-proof data centers for the AI era, whether they are on-premises or a hyperscaler’s solution.

Along with simplifying the network operation, the services are run from a single pane of glass in the Nexus dashboard. Cisco AI Assistant in Nexus Dashboard provides recommendations using natural language, simplifying troubleshooting. When troubles occur, Webex provides a communication flow between people working on the problem.

In conclusion, Cisco’s new secure network architecture addresses the urgent challenges for enterprises in the AI era: Explosive network traffic, mission-critical uptime requirements, and intensifying security threats. Designed to defend against AI with AI-powered management capabilities, next-gen high-capacity and low-latency network devices, and a quantum-resistant security model simplify complex IT and OT operations and enhance workforce productivity.
