Details on Quectel's EM060K-GL Module, Now Added to Google's Chrome OS Approved Vendor List

By

Howdy, readers. I imagine plenty of y’all are the slow-and-steady-in-the-morning type, while others have more of an up-and-at-‘em-full-speed mindset. Whichever camp you may fall in, I hope everyone has a great start to the week.

Let’s kick things off by chatting for a moment about global IoT solutions provider Quectel.

As we’ve previously reported, Quectel is on a mission to connect people and their devices to today’s networks as seamlessly as possible. The company accomplishes this with a comprehensive certification and testing portfolio, plus real-time kinematics (RTK) correction services. That said, Quectel has also become widely known for the distinct modules, consistent connectivity-wise; 2G, 3G, 4G, 4G LTE/LTE-A and 5G varieties, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules and automotive, satellite and LPWA modules. (For the full list, read here.)

A handful of specific Quectel modules we’ve written about include the following:

And as of late last week, we’ve learned of another addition to this list – namely, Quectel’s EM060K-GL module and how it’s been added to Google’s ChromeOS Approved Vendor List (AVL).

According to the official announcement, the inclusion of the EM060K-GL in ChromeOS’ AVL “underscores the module's compliance with rigorous standards for connectivity, security and performance, which are critical in the IoT ecosystem where devices often require reliable, fast communications.” The approval by ChromeOS at Google is very much a boost-of-confidence measure for teams incorporating the EM060K-GL into their applications, as it opens the door for integration with Google’s already-extensive range of services.

On top of that, the EM060K-GL module has already gained widespread certification; “GCF globally, CE in Europe, PTCRB and FCC in North America, IC in Canada, NCC in Taiwan and China, JATE/TELEC in Japan, and RCM in Australia/New Zealand,” per Quectel. It has also been approved by the likes of AT&T, Deutsche Telecom, Swisscom, NTT DOCOMO, T-Mobile, Vodafone and Verizon.

“We are thrilled to have our EM060K-GL module included in Google’s ChromeOS Approved Vendor List,” said Norbert Muhrer, President and CSO of Quectel Wireless Solutions. “This recognition is a testament to our team's dedication to excellence and our commitment to providing the best-possible IoT solutions that easily integrate with key ecosystem partners. We look forward to continuing our work with Google and OEMs, bringing innovative products to our customers.”
