We’ve talked about Semtech Corporation before; Semtech is a multinational technology provider with a variety of high-performance semiconductors, cloud connectivity services, and other IoT system-centric solutions. (Say that last part five times fast.) Since its founding (which dates back to 1960), Semtech delivers “high-quality, innovative solutions that enable a smarter, deeply connected, and more sustainable planet” — that, in essence, is their M.O.
Additionally, Semtech’s offerings today include cellular IoT, power management, wireless RF, smart sensing, circuit protection, signal integrity, broadcast video and professional AV, to name a handful. (We also previously covered Semetch’s debut of its XCVR Development Board and Reference Design; read here.) And in the past, we’ve shared quotes from (and about) Semtech’s capabilities; quotes from the likes of Robert Comanescu, Senior Director of IoT Chips Business at Semtech, as well as from Dr. Hong Q. Hou, who this summer was appointed the new Semtech President and CEO.
From Comanescu: “Semtech’s chipsets connect IoT sensors seamlessly to the cloud and enable the real-time communication of data and analytics that organizations can utilize to enhance their operations’ efficiencies.”
Then, from Dr. Hou: “Semtech is acutely focused on maintaining our disciplines and capitalizing on compelling technological trends that await us. With our strong team and a formidable portfolio, I am confident in our abilities to generate strong and sustained IoT value long into the future.”
And while we haven’t stretched too long into the future since Dr. Hou’s quote back in June, Semtech is clearly taking steps to advance its footprint in IoT.
Case in point, just last week Semtech announced an expansion of its distribution footprint; specifically in Canada through its partnership with GetWireless, a value-added distributor of wireless solutions for IoT.
For context, GetWireless (since 2001) has also provided embedded modules, end-device modems, intelligent gateways, signal boosters and other services, including channel development programs and strategic consultation. Thus, its partnership with Semtech makes a whole lot of sense.
“GetWireless welcomes the opportunity to continue growing with Semtech and bring their IoT solutions and portfolio to Canadian carriers and resellers,” said Brian Taney, CEO of GetWireless. “With GetWireless being part of a growing distribution platform that includes Alliance Corporation and Tessco Technologies, this is a natural expansion opportunity for us and a key priority for our vendors.”
Hieu Duong, Head of Global Channel Sales at Semtech, added how the company “is very excited to announce that GetWireless is now fully authorized to offer Semtech’s IoT connectivity, modules, and router solutions in Canada. Semtech has a distinguished track record of delivering rugged, reliable, and secure solutions for mission-critical applications. With over 20 years of successful partnership in the U.S. between Semtech and GetWireless, we are eager to extend this collaboration into the Canadian market. Together, we look forward to driving data-driven transformation with our cutting-edge and secure technology solutions.”
