Investment in Kajeet Accelerates its Mission to Continue Bridging the Digital Divide

By

It’s almost Friday, readers. For many folks (especially in the U.S.), the next couple of weekends are jam-packed with immense pressure (i.e. the upcoming general election). It’s looking to be an unprecedented period when it comes to barrages of headlines; time will tell.

In the meantime, however, there’s always great Internet of Things-related headlines to sift through.

Take, for instance, the main subject of today’s piece:

Kajeet.

Back in 2003, Kajeet’s founders were inspired to “bridge the digital divide” — particularly for generations less familiar with high-speed connectivity and what is now the Internet of Things, as we know it. To “connect the world for good,” as the company put it.

Around that time, Kajeet officially launched. Two decades later, its team has since provided start-to-finish services that lay the foundation for intelligent, flexible and secure connectivity, made accessible to more and more people. (i.e. via wireless networks, software, and data-driven insights that improve everyday life for local communities and global industries alike)

To illustrate this, we can go back to 2006, when the company launched its Mobile Phone Service for Kids, leveraging nationwide cellular coverage. In 2011, Kajeet launched its Education Broadband K-12. In 2015, the debut of SmartBus, a key Wi-Fi solution for students on the go in school buses. And in 2018 and 2019, the Kajeet Off-Campus Connectivity Suite for beyond-the-classroom data management, then its Enterprise Business solution for connectivity in healthcare, business failover solutions, and EV charging. The list certainly goes on.

Additionally, we’ve covered two other Kajeet developments and added them to this ongoing list: its smartSIM solution, and Kajeet’s partnership with Mission Telecom, aimed at providing internet access, mobile device management capabilities, and greater network security to people in need.

Today, let’s tack another Kajeet update to the board:

Kajeet officially announced having received a strategic investment from MWP Growth Capital, a private equity investor that a.) has made big investments in IoT services, healthcare, real estate and so on, and b.) is committed to driving innovation in wireless connectivity.

MWP’s investment positions Kajeet “to accelerate its expansion across high-growth sectors, further solidifying its leadership in the rapidly evolving wireless and IoT markets,” according to the official news.

"Kajeet has been at the forefront of delivering managed IoT services that power connectivity across education, healthcare, transportation, and communications industries,” explained Rob Adams, Managing Partner at MWP Growth Capital, as he praised the company’s 20-year track record. “By injecting new capital into the company and working closely with Kajeet's experienced management, we aim to support both organic growth and strategic acquisitions to solidify Kajeet's position as an impressive market leader.”

Ben Weintraub, CEO of Kajeet, added to what Adams remarked.

“This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Kajeet,” Weintraub said. “With MWP Growth Capital's support, we are well-positioned to accelerate our efforts to bring scalable solutions to market and expand our reach across high growth sectors of the market. Our core focus remains providing reliable, secure, and managed wireless services that empower our customers to thrive in the connected world."
