Axeda and Jasper Wireless Team Up to Help Operators Transition to the Internet of Things

By Matt Paulson February 19, 2014

The upcoming “Internet of Things” (IoT) promises to revolutionize the way that people interact with standard devices and appliances by connecting them to the Internet. With Internet connectivity, even simple household appliances like toasters and refrigerators will be able to utilize sensors and cloud computing in order to give consumers a better experience. By incorporating mobile devices as a way for users to easily control the parameters of their appliances, the IoT could truly revolutionize what it means to have a “connected home.” Of course, getting from here to there is a lot easier said than done.

Jasper and Axeda are two major players in the IoT market, and they have decided to join forces to help the operators of these connected devices manage the services that they provide and maximize the potential revenue. While Jasper provides operators with the tools to view manage and correct connected devices, Axeda offers a cloud-based platform that streamlines connectivity between sensors, products and the Internet. By forming an alliance, both companies hope to create a one-stop-shop for enterprises looking to take advantage of the IoT. Ultimately, this will help usher the IoT out of theory and into the real world even sooner.

Jasper Wireless was founded in 2005, and specializes in providing enterprises and mobile network operators around the world with services to serve the IoT and machine-to-machine (M2M) markets. As one of the earliest proponents of the IoT market, Jasper Wireless serves over 2500 enterprises and 15 mobile operator groups, granting them a competitive edge on experience with the IoT.

Axeda is a provider of enhanced cloud-based services, and creates the software that allows some of the world’s leading companies to remotely service their products at a reduced cost and level of complexity. When asked about the collaboration between the companies, Axeda EVP of business development David Canavan stated, “Axeda provides an end-to-end solution that simplifies the process of connecting, building and managing machine and sensor data, and together with Jasper we allow operators to quickly and easily launch IoT programs that drive new revenue.”
