KORE OmniSIM Keeps Wastewater Intelligence Flowing Across Borders

By

KORE’s connectivity platform helped ADS Environmental Services simplify a multinational monitoring estate, cut wireless-management costs, and reduce avoidable field visits.

The hidden dependency beneath wastewater analytics

Wastewater monitoring is a data business conducted in unforgiving places. Utilities need dependable readings from flow, level, and rainfall equipment to evaluate sewer capacity, improve billing accuracy, and identify inflow, infiltration, or emerging blockages. Yet, all that intelligence depends on a less visible layer: the network connection carrying data out of the field.

That dependency became a scaling problem for ADS Environmental Services, an IDEX Corporation business with more than 50 years of industry experience and operations in North America, the United Kingdom, and Australia. ADS had historically used the two largest U.S. wireless carriers, but each monitoring device could be provisioned for only one of them. In locations with inconsistent coverage, that constraint created service gaps. International growth brought another complication: every new market could require another carrier relationship, account and management interface, making remote support harder and adding administrative overhead.

For an installed base of field equipment, connectivity fragmentation affects manufacturing, inventory, deployment, support and truck rolls, not just monthly airtime. The company needed more than an international data plan. It wanted a single SIM design that could operate across countries and networks, plus one U.S.-based partner able to manage the transition from its domestic carrier environment.

One connectivity layer for new and installed equipment

ADS selected KORE OmniSIM, an eSIM built for multi-network operation and offering roaming access to 502 mobile networks in 202 countries. The platform combines eUICC/eSIM and multi-IMSI capabilities with OTA provisioning, automatic failover, and rules-based local profile management.

For ADS, the architecture begins inside the monitoring equipment. OmniSIM is embedded in newly manufactured devices and connects to the strongest available network in its location. Connectivity is then managed centrally through KORE ConnectivityPro. Above that communications layer sits ADS’s monitoring and analytics stack, including flow, level, and rainfall monitoring, blockage PREDICT machine-learning analytics, PRISM cloud software, and the FlowSIGHT program.

The implementation followed two tracks. First, ADS standardized new production on embedded OmniSIM connectivity. Second, it migrated existing devices previously associated with U.S. carriers into ConnectivityPro. The result was a unified management environment spanning the US, UK, and Australia, without forcing ADS to maintain separate operational processes for every geography.

That combination of hardware standardization and software-based lifecycle control is central to the deployment. A single-SKU approach reduces the need to stock SIM variants by market, while remote provisioning and failover give operations teams options after a device has left the factory.

Business impact measured in fewer interventions

ADS reduced administrative costs associated with SIM management by 65 percent, cut field visits to resolve connectivity issues by 30 percent, and lowered total operational costs related to wireless management by 75 percent. The deployment also improved network uptime, consolidated SIM variants, and simplified troubleshooting across three countries. These figures map directly to identifiable operational changes.

For ADS customers, the practical benefit is continuity. Secure, real-time transmission helps municipalities and system operators receive the data needed to understand network conditions. For ADS, fewer connectivity-related dispatches let field resources concentrate on the monitoring mission instead of carrier remediation.

“KORE has played a vital role in scaling the ADS Network by delivering dependable and adaptable cellular connectivity,” said Kristen Daye, product manager at ADS Environmental Services, adding that OmniSIM enables devices to transmit data securely in real time so customers can remain connected and informed around the world.

Why OmniSIM merits Business Impact recognition

The ADS project demonstrates that IoT connectivity becomes strategically important when it removes friction from the entire product lifecycle. OmniSIM did not replace ADS’s domain analytics. Rather, it made those analytics easier to deploy and support at international scale.

That is the pattern behind KORE OmniSIM’s Business Impact Award recognition: a horizontal technology producing concrete outcomes in critical infrastructure. The strongest evidence is not simply broad network reach. It is the combination of a two-phase migration, centralized control, fewer field interventions, and materially lower wireless management costs. In wastewater monitoring, where a disconnected sensor can interrupt the path from field condition to operational decision, making connectivity behave like a dependable utility is meaningful business impact.
