Smarter Smart Home Living: Arlo Total Security's Comprehensive Capabilities

By Alex Passett November 30, 2023

There are a lot of philosophies shared out there in regard to what legitimate home security comes down to; people do what makes them feel most secure. For me, it boils down to the “3 P’s” – Personal Safety, Protection of Valuables, and Peace of Mind. Comprehensive home security systems that safeguard the possessions we value are more important now than they’ve ever been, in terms of ducking undue breaches of privacy and other dangers. Smart alarms, smart locks and next-gen surveillance cameras contribute to individual safety. When combined, a home that’s professionally outfitted to allow the homeowners to feel at ease is a kind of peace that shouldn’t be minimized, let alone overlooked.

This is where smart security companies like Arlo Technologies come in. In fact, we recently featured Arlo in another story – it covers the success of Arlo’s existing security subscription plans, the second generation of one of its product lines, and more. (Find it here.)

I say “existing” plans because, as of this month, the company announced a new service: Arlo Total Security, a new plan that exemplifies Arlo’s mission to create easy-to-install smart home security solutions that make a real difference. And in this age of smarter technologies, AI-everything and more, the protection of personal safety and peace of mind should certainly be attainable.

Arlo Total Security subscriptions come in three tiers; Starter, Starter Plus, and Advanced with Video. All tiers come with 24/7 professional monitoring with critical alerts and direct emergency dispatch, all hardware already included and free shipping. That said, I specifically want to spotlight some of Advanced with Video’s unique features, given their importance for those with more robust smart home needs.

Advanced with Video also includes:

  • AI-Powered Person, Package, Vehicle & Animal Detection capabilities, which enhance the accuracy and usefulness of alerts and captured recordings with AI that consistently distinguishes between whatever (or whomever) the homeowner may be focusing on.
  • Security System Keypad Hub with built-in smart sensors, modes and detection functions.
  • Cellular & Battery Backup, which work even when Wi-Fi is down or the power is out* (though battery backup duration may vary with device settings, frequency of use and potential environmental factors).
  • Pro 5S 2K Camera and Pro 5S 2K Battery, which feature 2K HDR video, 12x zoom, and rechargeability for always-on protection, respectively.
  • Anti-Theft Mount to sturdily lock the camera(s) in place.

As mentioned, 2023 has been AI’s year. (And it’ll only proliferate from here on out.) Thus, Arlo’s inclusion of AI-powered alarm listening and detection capabilities is definitely a sensible move.

Overall, smart home technology is vital for its convenience, energy efficiencies, and the ability to meet the needs of folks’ fast-paced, safety-oriented modern lifestyles.
