The combination of environmental concerns, technological advancements, economic incentives and a desire for energy independence has fueled the growing residential demand for sustainable energy storage solutions. For example, solar and wind energy led homeowners to seek ways to store excess energy for use during periods of low or no generation.
Addressing the growing residential demand for sustainable energy storage solutions are two notable players in the residential sustainable energy storage market: Torus Inc. and Vivint Smart Home.
Torus, a company specializing in advanced energy storage systems, has been at the forefront of providing innovative solutions for homeowners looking to integrate renewable energy with storage capabilities. Their technologies leverage high-performance batteries and intelligent energy management systems to optimize energy usage, contributing to both cost savings and environmental sustainability.
Vivint, a provider of smart home technologies, offers integrated energy management solutions that include solar panels and energy storage. Their comprehensive approach allows homeowners to not only generate clean energy through solar but also store and manage it effectively using smart home technology. Vivint's systems enable users to monitor and control their energy consumption, promoting a more sustainable and energy-efficient lifestyle.
As companies like Torus and Vivint continue to innovate in the residential energy storage sector, they play a pivotal role in meeting the increasing demand for sustainable solutions driven by environmental consciousness and the quest for energy independence. Through a new partnership, the two are set to offer energy storage and management solutions in Vivint-managed homes in Utah, with further expansion coming soon.
"Partnering with Vivint amplifies our shared mission of empowering communities and individuals to become their own renewable utility provider, while making it more reliable and affordable than ever to power and control homes with clean energy," said Torus CEO Nate Walkingshaw.
The partnership integrates Torus Station battery storage into Vivint homes, enabling homeowners to store renewable energy and promote energy efficiency.
Essentially, this means that homes with Torus Stations capture and save energy from sources like solar panels for use at night, during outages or when grid energy prices peak. Customers with Torus Stations may also be eligible to participate with local utilities in money- and energy-saving programs that promote energy efficiency and grid stability.
"Vivint’s platform provides the perfect foundation for those looking to seamlessly integrate their home battery, inverters and distributed energy systems,” said Evan Pack, senior vice president, Energy at Vivint. “When combined with Torus’ innovative technology, we’ll be able to empower customers to gain control over their energy management, reduce peak energy costs and save money.”
The partnership’s offering is now available to Vivint customers in Utah.
